Data Backup
If you lose a hard drive or even your entire system, is your
data still available to
you? Chances are that you havent prepared for this type of
disaster. Consider the complete loss of all your digital photos,
tax
returns and financial records, music you have downloaded, or documents
you intended to save. Is it possible to get all that data
back? Do you have
copies of it or would it need to be re-created? Is it even
possible to restore it? And if you have copies, have you ever
tried to restore your data? Do you really know if your data
copies are valid?
This session is designed to help you with Data Backup:
- Understand the technology of backups
- Understand the types of backup and the media that it
uses
- Understand the differences and reasoning why data is
stored onsite and offsite
- Create a backup strategy and implement it
- Create a backup of your data on the media of your
choice (note that this session can require multiple visits at an
additional fee if the PC system does not meet certain minimum hardware
requirements)

Maintenance of your PC
Just like a car, your PC needs to be maintained and tuned-up on a
regular basis.
This session covers the tasks needed to maintain your PC in tip
top condition
- Operating System updates from Microsoft's Windows Update web page (internet
access is required)
- Using System Restore
- PC protection review
- Storage maintenance (defrag and Disk cleanup)
- Optional Software that can make this task easier

Sharing files and printers using a home
network
A session designed to teach the user the techniques to share files and
peripherals between computer systems
Note that the sharing of information or peripherals is not recommended
unless the customer initiates security isolating his home network from
other wireless networks.
This session presumes that the customer has a functioning home network
installed, and has at least 2 functioning computer systems attached to
his home network
- Enable folder sharing
- Enable device sharing
- Accessing the other computer systems file system
- Using My Network Places and establishing network drives
- Printing over a network connection

A session designed to teach the user the techniques to use a MP3
player or storage device to play audio and Podcasts. Session will
offer examples of how to download music and podcasts to your PC, and
then teach you how to syncronize your audio to your player

So you want to buy a new computer? Need some help on what all
that technical mumbo-jumbo mean? And how much should you
spend? Where is the best place to buy a new system? Buying
an new computer: It's a subject that's pretty confusing for most
people.
At WiseGuy, we have the expertise to help you understand what a new
computer system is all about. At an hourly rate, a WiseGuy
technical representative will help you understand what your wants,
needs, and desires are in a new computer system, and then translate
your request into a a computing system that is cost manageable and
feature rich. We help you understand the jargon used by computer
resellers, like Best
Buy,
Circuit City, Dell.com, etc. in order that you can make an informed
choice for a new computer system purchase. Whenever
possible,
newspaper
ads and Internet web pages will be used to share the meaning of this
jargon. The customer's future
expansion needs will be considered during this offering, and
recommendations will be made based on current a he future needs.
Note that
this offering does not include the purchase of a new system, nor does
it include the unpacking or installation/setup of a customer purchased
system.
The usual time to discuss a customer's needs and desires for a new
system varies, but is generally 1 to 2 hours.

Software?
We hear it all the time: "I just bought my computer a few years
ago, and already Im being told that its out of date. Whats up
with that?"
It's not always true that you need the latest and greatest in software,
especially if what you have works for what you need it to do. But
we're here to help you determine if you need software
upgrades. At an hourly rate, a WiseGuy technical
representative will help you
understand what your software wants, needs, and desires, and then help
you determine if the software you already have will work. And we
have the expertise to do an analysis to see if another product will
work better for your need too. Call us for an appointment,
because without the proper information, you really don't know what's
really out there and what you can do with software.

Just want someone you trust to talk to
when
you need assistance with technology?
For a flat annual fee, a WiseGuy representative can
assist you in basically anything related to computing or
consumer electronics. Quoting of this offering will be based on
specific products currently installed in a computing system(s) or
located on the customers premises at the time the contract is signed by
both parties. A contract can also include future products to be
purchased, but product type must be included in contract specifics,
i.e. HDTV (and not specifically a Sony Model XYZ123, although if a
specific model of a product type is known when contract is drawn, it
can be included). Hours of contract will be normal business
hours, M-F 9AM - 5PM, and onsite visits scheduled as necessary as part
of contract specifications.
